The performances are what you’d expect, the cast just seems to be having fun on set and not all that concerned with anything else. But the plot never moves past that kind of humor, so unless you’re toasted as you watch, you might get a little bored.
How High was about a pair of cool hip-hop dudes (Method Man and Redman) who smoke some special shit and become geniuses. The writing is consistent, as the focus remains on getting high and not much else, including an animated segment with a talking joint. Mac & Devin Go To High School is sort of the reverse How High. The film runs about an hour once credits are removed, so at least it is brisk. In what seems to be more of a promotional tool for Snoop Dogg and Whiz Kalifa’s latest tracks, Mac & Devin Go to High School is short and packed with jokes about weed. But if you’re not into constant weed jokes, then you might not be all that dazzled. This is the lead single from the tokin’ twosome’s soundtrack to upcoming stoner comedy, Mac and Devin Go to High School, which is sure to give Harold and Kumar a run for their money.
